Dr. Ephraim Winocur
Dr. Ephraim Winocur graduated in 1980 from the Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, Hebrew University, Jerusalem. From 1990 to 1992 worked in the Oral Psychophysiology Clinic in the Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine, Tel-Aviv University. He completed a post-doctoral course in Hypnosis (1990) and after fulfilling all the State of Israel requirements and passing a governmental examination, was licensed in Medical Hypnosis by the Israeli Health Ministry (1992).After completing a comprehensive post-graduate course in Function and Dysfunction of the Masticatory System (1991), he became a member of the department of Occlusion and Behavioral Sciences, and a consultant and senior clinician in the Temporomandibular Disorders Clinic.
In the year 2000 he became the coordinator of the department until the incorporation of the department with the department of Oral Rehabilitation in 2004. From then he is in charge of the field of function and dysfunction of the stomatognathic system, as well as the director of Orofacial Pain & TMD Clinic, The Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine. He is in charge of the following undergraduate courses: Dental Morphology (since 1994); Physiology of Occlusion (since 1998); Orofacial Pain (since 2004) Temporomandibular Disorders (since 2007).
Dr. Ephraim Winocur is a teacher in several post-doctoral courses. Dr. Ephraim Winocur has supervised 30 students for their DMD or Master thesis, has published a book on Dental Morphology (1995), 2 pre-clinical instruction manuals (Laboratory Program in Dental Morphology & Laboratory Program in Occlusion, 1995), an Educational Computerized Program in Dental Morphology and over 25 scientific publications. In 2001 he was elected “Outstanding -Teacher of the Year” (separately by the Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine and by the Sackler Faculty of Medicine). Since 2006 he is in charge of the Temporomandibular Disorders Service, Maxillofacial and Dental Health Center, Sourasky Tel Aviv Medical Center, and since 2008 he is a member of the sleep institute staff of the Assuta Medical Center.
Since 2007 he is the chairman of the teacher-students committee, parallel to his participation in many other academic committees. Dr. Winocur has presented numerous papers in national and international scientific meetings. He is a Judge in the Disciplinary Appeal Court of the Israel Dental Association (since 1991), as well as a past president of the Israeli Society of Orofacial Pain (1993-2002), and a council member and Israeli Delegate of the European Academy of Craniomandibular Disorders (since 2000). He is a past president of the Tel Aviv Chapter of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, and the immediate past president of the International Association for Dental Research, Israeli Division (since 2006). He is a member of the Medical Science Monitor (Journal) International Reviewers Panel. Since 2001 he is a charter member of the International Research Diagnostic Crtiteria for Temporo-Mandibular Disorders Consortium, and an international consultant of the "International Journal of Jaw Functional Orthopedics.
